Hey, Ward:

It’s getting colder outside and I know Labor Day is around the corner. Can I still wear my white jeans this fall? My girlfriend says no dice.

hey ward

This one just won’t seem to die. For some reason, most of North America puts its white trousers away the minute the leaves start to change. But it’s entirely unnecessary. You wear black in the summertime, yes? Then you can jolly well wear white jeans in the middle of autumn. For that matter, you can wear them in the middle of wintertime, too. White corduroy pants look great when snow is on the ground. The secret to wearing white jeans is to pair them with something that is standard for that season. Imagine a pair of white cords with a black cable knit sweater. Or a pair of white jeans with a dark grey turtleneck underneath a darker blazer. The idea that white goes in the closet until Memorial Day is dated and ridiculous. White is the color of winter. Let your wardrobe enjoy looking like a fresh snowfall.
