For many people, it is sometimes great to visit a climate that is not too cold, not too hot, not too stormy, not too dry, and with a fair amount of sunshine. There has been scientific proof that climate effects our state of mind in areas such as breathing in the fresh air, feeling sunshine on the skin, gazing at stars, and walking barefoot on the sand.
Since many places see an uneven jet stream pattern each year depending on its proximity to oceans and mountains, such locations can be challenging to find. I looked into areas that have great climates for vacationing and was pleasantly surprised to discover a lot of lovely places.
Canary Islands, Spain.
You may or may not have heard that Canarians have an open, happy character in the past. There is a reason for this. The climate here is exceptional. With an average temperature of 24 C (75 F) and no extreme cold or extreme heat, along with a reasonable amount of sunshine, it is no wonder the Canary Islands has an open, happy character. The Canary Islands is also known as ‘Island of eternal spring’ because of the year-round pleasant weather.
Even when I have watched international forecasts in the past, I was surprised to learn how temperate Spain’s climate was; given how close it is to other parts of Europe which have more extreme, unpleasant weather.
Quito, Ecuador.
What makes this area’s climate unique is that it has something for almost everyone, despite being almost directly on the equator. The main area’s climate has daytime highs around 25 C (76 F) with overnight lows around 10 C (50 F). The fact that Quito is by the Andean Mountains prevents big heat from occurring here. Therefore, both summer and spring clothes are essential.
Since Quito is near the equator, when the sun shines, you can really feel it. However, when the clouds roll in, you will feel a lot cooler. Quito is still a solid choice, though.
San Diego, CA.
Unlike places such as the Caribbean, where you will have to be picky about choosing when you want to go if you want to avoid hurricanes, you do not have to worry about this with San Diego. There are over 300 sunny days per year. Also, with an average temperature of 22 C (72 F) annually and an average winter temperature of 14 C (57 F), the climate is temperate.
Imagine a place where you can safely ride your bike over 80 per cent of the year. San Diego just might be it. With 33 beaches and Comic-Con also at San Diego, it is not just about the climate here either.
San Jose, Costa Rica.
Costa Rica is a tropical paradise with sun, sea, and surf. Despite being a tiny country, it has a variety of climates because of various altitude levels, coastal areas, and rainforest areas. San Jose, along with the Central Valley, in general, has a temperate climate because of altitudes between 3,000 and 5,000 feet.
Daytime highs are typically in the low-to-mid 20s in Celsius (70s in Fahrenheit) and high twenties in Celsius (Low 80s in Fahrenheit). Nights are comfortable too, usually between 15 C and 20 C (60s in Fahrenheit). There’s no need for air conditioning or heating here. You’ll save lots of money.
Sydney, Australia.Climate
Sydney is not only remarkable for its art, architecture, culture, and educational system, the climate is stunning as well. With an average annual temperature of 23 C (73 F) along with 340 days of sunshine, Sydney is another example of a place where planning outdoor activities will seldom be a challenge. I mean over 90 per cent of the year.
Also, although summer days (December to February) can be hot for those who aren’t big fans of the heat, cold fronts often push through later in the days ensuring steady temperature drops.
