Prayer is a two-way conversation with God or Spirit, a way to receive guidance that is for the Highest good of all. Does that sound helpful for your relationship?

Prayer takes you out of your ego and mind into your Spirit and heart. It also gives you both a higher purpose. When I wrote, The Book of Sacred Baths: 52 Bathing Rituals to Revitalize Your Spirit I included some sacred couples baths that I did with my husband because I knew that this process would help couples to shift into love while they prayed and attuned to one another. I also knew that it would be an inexpensive, enjoyable and meaningful date night at home. As a Relationship expert, I knew the common issues that couples experienced so I wrote bath meditations that addressed them.

According to the research, prayer helps people to release their burdens, to be less aggressive, to increase self-control and well-being.

To create a sacred bath first create a sacred space in your bathroom together. This can include incense or flowers. Then light a candle, put in Epsom salts, essential oils and an appropriate crystal into your bath water. You call in Spirit (whether that’s your Higher Self, God, the Goddess or your angels) for guidance in the sacred waters. Then make a prayer and state your intention before you climb into your bath together. You can then relax in silence, do a specific meditation around your intention and listen for guidance on your relationship. Afterwards, you can discuss the messages you received or journal about any inspiration. This process normally takes 25 minutes.

Here are 5 reasons that it’s great to pray together in your sacred bath:

-Research shows that you are more willing to forgive your mate when you pray. We all make mistakes and need to work through them to be a strong couple and prayer helps with this.

-Prayer increases feelings of trust and unity which are very important in a relationship.

-Praying increases dopamine and thereby increases happiness and well-being in you as a couple.

-Research has found that couples who practice their beliefs in their house together versus attending services, are happier. A study found that practicing beliefs at home promoted ethical behavior, life purpose and stress resilience.

-Prayer, meditation and water all help initiate a relaxation response and connect us to others. Relaxing and connection will help you work well with your partner.

Sacred couples bath bring a Higher purpose and perspective into your relationship by asking for guidance. Then your relationship becomes less about ego needs and bartering and more about love and what is best for the Highest good of all.
