I love people in the arts. Painters, sculptors, actors, designers and alike fascinate me. They have something that I want more of: endless and effortless creativity. This year many of the city’s most talented and plugged-in arts types headed to one of the best parties/fundraising events of the year. Held June 4th at the now historic Power Plant situated on the lake in Toronto, the 2015 Powerball succeeded to once again deliver an evening of the arts to remember – as the organizers put it, “the most notoriously innovative art party in Toronto”.
The “food performance” was an exclusive experience followed by the main party attended by hundreds. Not knowing what to expect, it didn’t take long to realize the term actually meant …. it truly was a “food performance”. I found myself surrounded by Octopus legs hanging by hooks strewn from the ceiling, loafs of bread the size of flying saucers, bins of limitless rows of roasted potatoes, and grilled shrimps, prosciutto and other bites handed to us from human hands mysteriously poking through holes atop a long table. These were just some of the featured food stations. You get the idea; a food performance.
