Pardon the language.
Ok, f*ck it, don’t pardon the language. The language is extreme because the topic is extreme.
Hear me out.
As a MOM, I often find EVERYTHING is marketed at us with the goal of getting back to your “pre-mom whatever-the-f*ck”. Yoga pants, body, skin, vacations, fitness, jeans, meals, career, sleep, blah, blah, blah, all of it.
(If you’re a mama, I’m sure you know exactly what I mean.)
Seriously?!!!
While I’ve always been fit, athletic, happy, ambitious, positive (most of the time), and fun-loving…there’s NO part of me that wants to go back to a time before my 2 sassy and sweet girls arrived. In fact, I can’t even remember what my life was like before them. They are so incredible and have truly taught me the most important lessons in my life.
It will be interesting: Can A New Mom Really Run A Business Too?
Did I have endless free-time to sleep in, vacation, do nothing, give myself a pedicure at 6pm on a Monday, go to the gym at noon on a Saturday, or whatever the hell I did back then? YES.
Did I still waste that free time and complain about not having any? YEP.
Did I have crazy abs, a flat tummy, manicured nails 24/7, and perfectly done hair and makeup (often)? YEP.
Would I trade it all to have those things back again?
NEVER.

Here’s the thing. You couldn’t pay me ANY amount of money to want that life OR that ME back again…ever. While I’m proud of who I was and what I had “back then”, I’m SO much more immensely proud, grateful and thrilled with what I have now.
Does that mean I can’t be fit, go on vacation or go out for dinner?
Hell-to-the-no, it doesn’t. It just means I do it differently now.
I do it differently now because I AM DIFFERENT now, and I wouldn’t go back for any reason.
So, please stop marketing sh*t for moms (or any parent for that matter) as if we’re missing out on something. You might just have it all backwards.
Smooch smooch,
Lav
