Canada’s only “dining in the dark” restaurant creates an extraordinary culinary adventure and invites guests to experience food, drinks, and conversation without the use of sight. This is done due to the fact that when you eat food in the dark, your remaining senses are heightened to savour the smell and taste of food. This restaurant does more than just stimulating the senses, as after an hour of two of guests dining in complete darkness (no flashlights, cell phones, etc.), customers are able to gain an better understanding of what it’s like to be blind- just like the restaurant’s team of wait staff which consists entirely of the visually-impaired. Menu items include: pesto chicken breast with potatoes and vegetables, shrimp risotto with mushroom and garlic, Cajun fish with white rice and vegetables, as well as “surprise” entrees and desserts where servers can choose what to serve the customers. 2. The Sultan’s Tent & Café Moroc
Plush cushions and belly dancers welcome you to this place under candle-lit Moroccan fabric tents and includes Moroccan-French menu items. On Fridays and Saturdays, the restaurant offers a 3-course French Moroccan dining experience, which includes a 30-minute belly dance performance for entertainment. This charming and spacious neighbourhood restaurant has 32 taps pouring mostly hyper-local tap craft beer and a sidelong patio where spots are always taken in the warmer months. The restaurant has marble and genuine leather which adds a luxurious yet welcoming feel. This restaurant is currently being hailed as the city’s most imaginative upscale resto-lounge located in Yorkville. This restaurant is fully committed to the comic book theme. When diners walk into Figures, they pass through a comic book and collectibles shop through the hidden door camouflaged by figurines and into an eclectic dining room where comic book pages wallpaper the walls.
