Last night the weigh-ins were officially completed and countdown for the 2014 Fight To End Cancer event is now under way. This will be the third annual event where a team of 10 white-collar men and women (with no prior boxing experience) step into the ring to raise awareness and funds in support of Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. All of the boxers have devoted the past six months to both their boxing training and reaching their team’s fundraising goal.

Grace O’Malley’s partnered with the organization for the official media kick-off and weigh-in and it wasn’t a coincidence. The team at Grace O’Malley’s know all too well, the hardship of seeing a colleague and friend go through the difficult journey of cancer treatment. Their general manager, Chris Taylor, had been waiting to find a stem cell donor match since 2012, when he was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. After two donor matches fell through, Chris has successfully found a third match and has started treatment as of this month.

“Ending cancer in our lifetime is a strong belief that both we at Fight To End Cancer and Grace O’Malley’s strongly believe in. From stepping into the boxing ring in support of Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation to donating your DNA through a simple cheek swab; everyone can take part in the fight to end cancer.” stated the organizers in front of the crowd of media, family and well-wishers.

Some tickets are still available for the May, 31st event here: http://www.fighttoendcancer.com/
