Beauty hacks are in abundance. But it’s difficult for us to find the time (or in all honesty – sometimes we’re just lazy) to test out new tips and tricks.

That said, a good beauty hack will change your life. It will save you time, money, and serve as an indication of your resourcefulness.

A couple of these hacks have proven to be definite game-changers for me. Here are 5 life-changing beauty hacks:

1. DIY Oil Blotting Sheets

Oil absorbing sheets will keep your face looking fresh throughout the day. Making your own blotting papers will only take 2 seconds. You’ll end up with a much better product, saving a few bucks along the way.

For this awesome DIY, simply cut a brown paper bag (yes, the old school lunch bag) into small rectangles or any shape you’d prefer, then tie the bundle together with string. Voila!

2. Combat Oily T-Zone

There’s a silver lining to an oily complexion. Compared to dry or normal skin types, oily skin tends to age better. Sadly, the matte or dewy look doesn’t last long until the shine appears on that pesky t-zone area.

The must-have product for oily skin types? Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer. Your eye makeup will last for over 12 hours. For days you need some extra staying power on the rest of your face, apply a bit of this primer onto your t-zone area and under your eyes.

Interestingly enough, Urban Decay’s face primers (for oily skin) yield incomparable results to this eyeshadow primer.

3. Natural Glow

Master the “no makeup” makeup look with a natural glow. This DIY glow is perfect for those days you want to wear minimal product while opting for the seemingly effortless “I woke up like this” look.

Use your fingers to mix your moisturizer and the pigment from your highlighting powder on the backside of your hand. Blend this creamy shimmer onto the areas you’d typically apply your highlight – middle of the forehead, above your cheekbones, chin, nose bridge, and cupid’s bow.

4. Revive Dried-Up Mascara

Fun fact: a tube of mascara should be replaced every 3 months. But if during this time, your mascara’s formula becomes flaky or dries out – eye drops are the solution. Add a drop or 2 of saline solution into the mascara tube, swirl the wand around the inside of the tube, and give it a shake.

5. Revive Dried-Up Eyebrow Pomade

While most trends have made a successful comeback – (thankfully) like a bad ex, the over-tweezed eyebrow remains a thing of the past, with photos being the only reminders that it really did happen.

Following suit of Taylor Hill and Cara Delevingne – sporting their fuller brows as the greatest accessory on the runway of top fashion houses, eyebrow pomade is today’s beauty drawer essential.

Brow pomade dries out fairly easily – whether you forget to put the cover back onto the jar or just didn’t screw the lid on tight enough. But with a drop or two of baby oil, your pomade will be good as new.

You can even use this trick to thin out the consistency of your pomade to achieve finer lines for sharper brows. Keep in mind, a little does go a long way. Start off with less oil, then work more into the product as you go.
